Travel itinerary
Thursday - 18 July 2024
Our adventure begins with a scenic flight from Medellin's Olaya Herrera Airport to the paradise which is Nuquí. The 40 minute long flight soars above a vast rainforest and dozens of unidentified rivers. Upon arrival, we'll whisk you away on a speedboat ride along the rugged coastline, where the jungle cascades into the ocean. Pro tip: keep your eyes peeled for whales, you never know when you’ll get the chance of seeing one jump out of the ocean.
Arriving at our secluded hotel, we'll have our first taste of the delicious local cuisine before embarking on a sunset hike through beach and jungle to a nearby waterfall. Retreating for dinner, we’ll rest for the next day’s adventures.
Friday - 19 July 2024
After a hearty breakfast we’ll embark and go searching for whales. Spouts in the horizon signal their presence and indicate which way to direct our boat. At first it requires patience, but once a spray is sighted the chase is on. Without a doubt, witnessing these majestic beings in their natural habitat is an unparalleled experience.
Returning to shore for a leisurely lunch, the afternoon offers a choice of activities. Whether you're eager to catch some waves with local surf instructors or prefer to explore the underwater world through snorkeling, the day is yours to enjoy.
Saturday - 20 July 2024
After breakfast we’ll set out on another mesmerising whale-watching excursion. Because one encounter is never enough when it comes to these magnificent creatures. Afterward, we'll venture into the heart of the local community where a local matriarch will give us a Pacific cuisine cooking lesson.
After lunch, we’ll witness local conservation efforts with a visit to a mangrove sanctuary. Here, we’ll learn all about this vital ecosystem and get hands on as we plant mangrove saplings to help in the restoration of the forest. Return to our comfortable hotel for a well-deserved dinner and a night of relaxation.
Sunday - 21 July 2024
Prepare for a demanding hike through the jungle, where giant trees and delicate fungi generate a vibrant connection with nature. Our destination is a river that runs through the middle of the rainforest, where traditional canoes await to glide us downstream until we reach the ocean.
Our transportation will be there to pick us up once we’ve reached our destination to take us back to the hotel. We’ll have lunch and in the afternoon enjoy the beach or, if you’re energetic enough, walk to one of the nearby beaches and caves.
Monday - 22 July 2024
After breakfast we bid farewell to Nuquí. A scenic speedboat journey transports us back to town, where we board our flight to Medellín, arriving by midday. End of the expedition.
